Presentation mode and Video Guidelines

 Presentation Mode

The RSM 2021 conference will run in live mode through Cisco WebEx. You are required to present a 10-12 minutes PowerPoint presentation for 15 minutes session, including Q&A. However, a recorded video of the presentation will still be required so it is available to all attendees, even if they cannot attend live.

At least one of the authors of the paper must be present during the scheduled paper session. Otherwise, the paper will be considered as “NO SHOW“. Please see the  IEEE  Policy on handling Non-presented Papers.

It is noted that ONLY presented papers will be submitted to the IEEE Explore for further indexing.

Video Preparation Guidelines

  1. Duration of the recording – 10  minutes.
  2. Videos should contain a prominent view of the presentation slides. A view of the speaker’s head on the presentation is highly recommended, for increased engagement. (Speaker window should be thumbnail-sized and overlaid on the slide).
  3. Video Resolution: Maintain a 16:9 aspect ratio with a minimum of 720p resolution settings).
  4. File format: mp4.
  5. Please check thoroughly that the audio is audible and clear, and its timing is in line with the presenter’s intended narration.

Instructions and Tips for Recording your Video:

Our recommended approach to record a compatible video from the content displayed on your computer screen and voice recording via the computer microphone is to record the presentation using Zoom, available to users on most platforms and in most countries. (in this method, you can show your face via webcam (if you’d like).)

You can record audio or video narration as you run through your presentation. The buttons at the lower-right corner of the window allow you to toggle on or off the microphone, camera, and camera preview:

Remember to export and upload your final video – do not upload it to Microsoft Stream!

Instructions for recording your presentation with OBS:
For Authors located in China who are unable to access Zoom for free, we recommend using the free software OBS (https://obsproject.com/), which allows also you to simultaneously capture yourself while speaking and your slides.
