1)EDS Malaysia membership drive at INEC2019 in Kuching

The R10 SRC Vice Chair and Past Chair of EDS Malaysia, Dr P Susthitha Menon attended the 9th IEEE International Nanoelectronics Conference (INEC2019) at Pullman Kuching Sarawak from the 3-4th of July 2019. The conference was organized by the Nanotechnology Chapter of the IEEE Singapore Section and the IEEE Sarawak Subsection of IEEE Malaysia Section with the theme selected for this series is “Nanoelectronics and Digital Applications”, which aimed to focus on the translational from research outcomes into real applications. A total of 100-150 participants presented plenary, invited and oral papers. Dr Susi gave an overview of EDS in R10 and encouraged EDS membership from the participants.

2) Membership Drive at EDS Mini-Colloquium

A membership drive was organized in conjunction with the 2 days Mini-Colloquium on PV technologies. The turn-out is about 200 participants inclusive of EDS student members and IEEE members. In this special event, EDS Membership committee has offered the participants a lucky-draw free membership program. Total of five lucky student member and six EDS members has been selected during the event. Unfortunately, after submitted to EDS HQ for processing only student members are granted for free registration and existing member for renewal fees are not approved by EDS HQ due to special circumstances applied to the MFSP program (which is IEEE EDS Malaysia section member are not comply with). Hopefully next year EDS HQ will revise the policy and EDS member from Malaysia will be able to participate in the MFSP program.

3) EDS Membership Drive at IEEE Open Day 2019 at MAGIC Cyberjaya

The activity was done at MaGIC (Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre) Cyberjaya on 12th October 2019. The event organised by IEEE Malaysia Section and EDS Malaysia Chapter as co-sponsor. The membership drive is carry-out in conjunction with IEEE Day 2019 celebration and IEEE Malaysia Section Student Congress 2019. There are few activities run on the day such as Town hall Session, Malaysia Distinguish Lecturer Program (MyDLP), Senior Membership Workshop, Teacher In-Service Program, Student Congress, Humanitarian Activities Sharing session and award ceremony for IEEE Final Year Project (FYP). At the event IEEE Malaysia also take a chance to display new the LOGO for IEEE Malaysia. About 300 participants join the event on the day. Many participants are eager to know more about the IEEE organisation and specifically on EDS Chapter. The attendees are mostly students, school teachers, lecturers and industry expert.
